Why We Hike

The Landscape Is Part of the Medicine

There's a reason we built The Bridge here, in New Harmony, Utah. Within a short drive you'll find red-rock cathedrals, crimson sand dunes, and hoodoo-filled canyons that quite literally take your breath away. And there's growing science behind what people have always felt: time moving in nature heals.

Guided hiking is a core part of our 21-day program — not as a fitness bootcamp, but as nature and movement therapy. For a nervous system stuck in fight-or-flight, or a body worn down by chronic pain and fatigue, the combination of gentle movement, fresh air, and awe-inspiring scenery is profoundly restorative.

The otherworldly hoodoos and vast amphitheaters of Bryce offer some of the most spectacular vistas in the American West.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is hiking part of the program at The Bridge?
Yes. Guided hiking is woven into the 21-day program as a form of nature and movement therapy. Hikes are optional and always matched to your ability — from gentle nature walks to more challenging trails.
Where do you hike?
The Bridge sits near three of America's most beautiful landscapes: Zion National Park, Snow Canyon State Park, and Bryce Canyon National Park. We choose trails based on the season, the group, and each guest's comfort level.
Do I need to be fit or experienced to hike?
Not at all. Our guided hikes range from easy, flat nature walks to moderate trails. Guests recovering from chronic pain, fatigue, or injury are fully supported, and no one is ever pushed beyond what feels right for their body.
Why is hiking part of a health-recovery program?
Movement in nature is one of the most powerful, evidence-informed tools for regulating the nervous system, lifting mood, reducing stress hormones, and rebuilding physical strength. It's not exercise for its own sake — it's therapy.
Can I combine hiking with the other therapies?
Absolutely — that's the point. Hiking is integrated with nervous-system therapy, nutrition, bodywork, and regenerative medicine so every part of the program reinforces the others.
